Susan Yerex Hamilton
Sue Yerex lived on the western side of Lake Taupo for a number of years on the family’s dry stock farm. She has in-depth experience of both the practical and economic sides of running a farm business where regional rules apply.
During her time in Taupo Sue was very involved with the local farming group Taupo Lake Care (TLC) formed to represent farmer’s views in response to the Proposed Regional Plan Variation 5 (RPV5).
A strong and enthusiastic TLC advocate Sue was heavily involved in the discussions over a three year period with government ministers and officials and various other key stakeholder agencies at that time including Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board members.
Having experience in the banking and valuation industries, a zest for the environmental protection of the waters of Lake Taupo for the benefit of future generations, Sue understands clearly the need for environmental protection and acting before it’s too late.
An inaugural trustee and current deputy chair of this Trust Sue has embraced the governance challenges throughout the journey of this legacy project.
